Food prices are highest in Dubrovnik Old Town, Hvar and central Split, especially in July and August. Restaurants near the sea, main squares and cruise-ship areas can be significantly more expensive than local neighborhoods.

Zagreb, Zadar, Šibenik, inland towns and neighborhoods outside the historic centers usually offer better value. Bakeries, supermarkets, daily markets and casual konobas can reduce your food budget quickly.
